Elk Point Wedding by Rebecca Hollis Photography

Coeur d’ Alene based Rebecca Hollis Photography has become the ‘it’ name in our wedding community lately. Her amazing talent is in high demand, she is definitely the girl to book right now! Which is why I am so excited to be adding her to my Preferred Vendors list and that she agreed to photograph our Beacon Hill inspiration shoot last week (more on that later!). After working extensively with Rebecca on the shoot, I can verify that besides being REALLY talented, she is one of the easiest people on the planet to work with. She is flexible, easygoing and works hard to deliver what you want. I 100% recommend her!

Oh! And her packages are super reasonable AND they include an engagement session! I sent her some questions so we could get to know her a little better (make sure to read her wedding advice!)…

What would you say is your style?

My style is mainly photojournalistic with some traditional shots thrown in.  I love capturing emotion.  Whether it’s a quick glace between a couple when only the other person knows what it means, or the couple cracking up about something.  My style is romantic, whimsical, eclectic, quirky, warm, and happy, to sum it up.

What do you think is the most important aspect of a wedding photographer?

As a wedding photographer, I think it is important to know your client.  I choose to include engagement sessions in all of my packages for this reason.  It gives you a chance to get to know me beyond a chat over coffee, and for me to get to know you.  My goal is to give my clients photos that speaks to them in their own way.

What is your top advice for couples planning their weddings?

My tip for weddings overall,  hire a planner! Even if it’s just for the wedding day.  It is a crazy, hectic and there are a million questions thrown at you at one time; it is SO nice to have someone to delegate everything.  It will keep you on track, keep vendors on track, and most importantly, allow you and your family to enjoy the wedding day to it’s fullest.  My tip for hiring a photographer, get someone who’s style you like, who you mesh well with, and feel comfortable with.  If any of these are off, you won’t enjoy the process as much on your wedding day.

How long have you been shooting weddings?

It’s a hazy line.  I started off doing shoots as a hobby and it has slowly developed into my business.  I have enjoyed taking pictures most of my life, and am so thrilled to be able to do it all the time now.  And what could be better than weddings?

What made you decide to get into wedding photography?

I got into weddings for a few reasons.  One, I absolutely love them.  I love that it is once in a lifetime event that I get to be a part of and capture.  I help to preserve their memories and get a quick glimpse into their love.  Two, I’m a people person.  Although I have shot other genres of photography,  portraits and weddings are my niche.  I work well feeding off of people and their energy, which comes through in my images.

Who or what is your work inspired by?

I get inspired by the people I’m working with and surroundings I’m shooting in.  I have shot in the middle of the forest, in a wide open field, in a church, and each has their own uniqueness and beauty.  The same goes for people. I get inspired by who I am working with, their personalities as a couple and individually.  I shoot, choose location, and edit based on them.

Will you travel and what are the fees?

I’m happy to travel!  I have enjoyed traveling around the world and experiencing different cultures all my life, so why not for weddings!  I don’t charge anything as long as the wedding is within 120 miles of my home-base of Coeur d’Alene.  If I’m driving it’s kind of on a situational basis.

What is the price range of your services?

Packages start at around $1500.  I also have lots of a la carte goodies that can be added to a package or purchased later.  Each package includes quite a bit, but I am uber flexible and always happy to customize something for clients based on what they need and their budget!

And now for one of Rebecca’s recent weddings at Coeur d’ Alene wedding venue, Elk Point! The couple are Thomas and Nicole and besides the amazing photography, this wedding is full to the brim with great ideas, including how to make pink elegant!
