I’m honored to be sharing a fabulous DIY project from Spokane wedding stylists/planners Alisa and Jessica from La Lune Events today! Besides planning some of Spokane’s most stylish events, these ladies know all there is to know about the wonderful world of wedding DIY, which is why I am delighted to announce they are going to be the Apple Bride DIY gurus from here on out!
Take it away girls!
These handmade wood elements add a rustic, natural touch to your tables or centerpieces. We used a birch log to create place card holders and table numbers that could be used at any wedding or event. This is definitely a DIY project your groom can help you with…chainsaws are involved, ladies!
Materials:
- small birch, hemlock, or pine log
- chainsaw and/or band saw
- hand saw
- sand paper
- metallic marker and/or paint in your desired wedding colors
Here is a short video with the steps…
Table Numbers DIY:
Step 1: Find a log about 6-8 inches in diameter with or without bark.
Step 2: Use a chainsaw (or band saw) to make slices about 1-2 inches thick.
Step 3: Use sand paper and gently smooth the edges to eliminate any splinters.
Step 4: Use paint and/or markers to draw the numbers or table names. These are perfect to lean up against a centerpiece or incorporate into your centerpiece arrangements.
For Placecard/Menu Holders
Step 1: Use a chainsaw (or band saw) to make 3 – 4 inch slices.
Step 2: Use band saw or hand saw to cut the bottom, so that the slice can stand alone and level.
Step 3: Use sand paper and gently smooth the edges to eliminate any splinters.
Step 4: Make a slice with a band saw or hand saw in the center about ½ inch deep. This will hold your name card or menu or any other paper element at your event.
