In my opinion, wedding invitations are more important than ever. In the days of e-mail, e-vites and Facebook events, the one invitation that still maintains the sacred practice of ACTUAL mail with ACTUAL paper is the wedding. People love receiving wedding invitations more because it’s a rare/special occurrence.
And lucky for us, we have some incredible Spokane wedding invitation suppliers right here in our backyard, one of them being Lindsey from Papermade Invites. Lindsey is originally from Spokane, but has been living in Portland the last several years, where she built a very successful invitation business. And she’s packed it up, kit and caboodle, and brought it with her to Spokane!
Lindsey does beautiful and unique custom design invitations, and also has some fabulous options available on her website or Etsy Shop.
Here’s an interview with Lindsey…
How long have you been in design and what is your background?
I have been in the graphic design field since 2001 and running my own wedding invitation business since 2009.
What is your design inspiration?
I love all things wedding…I get inspiration from modern, off-beat imagery and styles (typography is probably most important to me) from things I see around me…even browsing websites and blogs and doing design competitions in order to stay current on new trends and challenge myself.
What is your favorite part of designing for weddings?
Being a part of a couples special day is so meaningful…and making their experience more personable and easy gives me the greatest joy. After I designed my own wedding invitations and then began designing for friends…I realized I had a true passion for this.
How do couples order?
They email or call me and let me know what they are interested in…whether it be one of my gallery designs altered to suit them (by changing the color: over 1000 colors to choose from, adding photos/images, changing the layout or wording, or changing the font: over 1000 font choices to choose from) or having me create a brand new custom design specially for them. And then I create a custom listing for them. After that is paid, the client will receive as many proofs as needed within 48 hours and we do revisions until they are 100% satisfied. Stationery is then sent to a local print shop where they are printed on one of our 20 premium 100# card stocks. All orders are then either delivered or shipped to the client. Envelopes are available for purchase as well.
Do you do customized designs?
Yes…definitely! Custom designs are my specialty…and a great way to make your day personable to you.
What is the most important thing for couples to remember when they start thinking about their invitations?
The most common problem I find is that people never order enough invitations and will think of more people that they forgot or new friends they have made…and end up needing to order more. Try ordering an extra 5-10 invitations just so you have a back-up…and a keepsake for later on.
What is the typical turn around time for a couple to receive their invitations?
Turn around time can be as little as a week…up to 2 weeks.
