It’s such an honor to be highlighting one of my absolute favorite wedding dress shops, Storybook Bridal! In my opinion, Storybook carries one of the best selections of fashion forward and on trend wedding gowns in our whole area. We’ve used Storybook’s gowns in a couple of our inspiration shoots, and we’re never disappointed with the selection and variety we find.
Storybook is moving to a different location in Coeur d’ Alene in January and is changing owners, so I thought it would be good to send new owner Misty (of Cameo Events!) a short interview to catch up on all the news and get some advice for how to choose a wedding dress in Spokane!
Can you tell us about the changes happening with Storybook Bridal?
Storybook Bridal has a new owner. I took ownership in December. What a perfect time to celebrate the 5th year of being in business! I also own Cameo Events a wedding and event planning company that started in Denver Colorado. After taking ownership, I decided it was best to move the store to 1520 Northwest Blvd in CDA. Storybook Bridal and Cameo Events will move next to Cheryl Burchell Jewelry as well as Hansen’s Florist. In February there will be a high end salon moving in as well, making this CDA’s first wedding plaza. Brides can make one stop for all their wedding needs! We have made some amazing changes already to better serve our wonderful brides such as our new website, new dress lines and accessories. We will also have a great selection of Prom dresses!!! Our opening date in the new location will be January 3, 2012.
Why did you decide to go into bridal fashion?
Weddings are my passion being a certified wedding planner with 11 years of experience owning a bridal store makes what I do even better! Seeing a bride tear up because “This is the Dress” makes what I do fulfilling!!
What do you think makes Storybook unique?
Storybook Bridal is about the whole experience. Most of us dream as young girls about the day we walk down the aisle and the biggest part of that is not the tables, centerpieces or which color of sand…..it’s the DRESS!!! We want our brides to feel that they are the only bride we have, our appointment times are longer and we encourage girlfriends and moms to come and share the joy of “This is the Dress”. We do not have pushy Bridal Consultants to make the sale, we want you to be as in love with the dress as you are to your Prince Charming! Pricing is a big thing for us as well, we want to have quality gowns at a price you can love as well! Coming to Storybook is all about YOUR Fairytale!
What should brides know before they start shopping for their dress?
Brides should give themselves plenty of time to find the right gown, ordering at least 6 months before your big day. This allows for alteration time as well as peace of mind! Think about what you like and don’t like about wedding gowns, what parts of your body do you want to enhance, do you want to have sleeves, or a full shirt, what is your budget? These are all things that you can tell your bridal consultant upon arriving for your appointment! Most importantly be true to yourself, it’s easy to let others push you into a dress that isn’t right, remember this is your wedding day.
What should brides look for in their perfect dress?
Every bride is different, when they put the ONE on they just know! Everyone’s perfect gown is different, that’s what makes this job so exciting!
What are some trends for 2012?
A splash of color into any dress such as a sash or bridal belt is a great way to make your dress unique that much more. Other trends are bottoms with pick ups, for summer outdoor wedding going short and sassy is hot this year! Something I’m really excited about is the key hole back, what a classy and elegant way to arrive to your wedding day!
How many brands/designers do you carry?
We carry four lines, Ella, Essence of Australia, Jasmine and Allure.
Should brides make an appointment?
We love to have brides make a appointments however we love walk-ins as well.
