These are my favorite kind of posts. I get to introduce you to one of our newest Featured Photographers AND I get to show you an amazing local wedding!
You will know Free To Live Photography‘s work because they have been on Apple Brides a million times. But what makes this husband and wife photography duo so special is that it’s usually their brides who submit their weddings to me (like this wedding, and this wedding and don’t forget about this one) . The couples love their wedding photos so much, they are the ones who want the world to see them. I just love that!
So I am beyond excited to have Matt and Jess of Free to Live Photography join our Featured Photographer list! And to celebrate, we’re featuring a gorgeous DIY/vintage wedding in Pine City. Keith and Mandy are a stylish couple who wanted a laid back wedding. They collected most of their decor from second hand stores and DIYed most other items, they did an excellent job of putting their efforts in to the right things like Mandy’s dress from Anthropologie, a typewriter guestbook, fresh squeezed lemonade, great photography and they hired Ferguson Films to video the big day (be sure to check out that goodness below!).
I sent Matt and Jess some interview questions so we can get to know them a bit better, read on…
What makes your photography unique?
We are a husband & wife team, in other words, we’ve been married and we know how important wedding photography is. We know what it’s like to be on both sides of the camera, so we focus on helping brides/grooms be confident and comfortable while having their photos taken.
How would you describe your style?
-Our style is a mix of modern, unique, and creative photography.
-Our business philosophy is: keep it simple and classy.
-We love natural expressions, emotions, and real-life romance, so our style reflects that.
What should brides and grooms look for in their photographer?
-Look for someone that will bring out your personality and capture the beauty, fun and spontaneity of your relationship.
-Find someone that will have fun with you and notice all the details—if your hair is in or out of place, how your dress is laying, if your mascara is smeared or if the lighting is “just right” for an image.
-Remember that a photographer’s job is to draw out beauty and expression as much as it is to have technical skills.
Any tips or advice for wedding planning?
-Your wedding is your wedding—it should reflect you! The more that the setting, details, and plans reflect what you love, the more your photos will reflect your style.
-Wedding planning can be stressful, so make sure and take down-time the week before your wedding. You will feel more rested, less stressed and more photogenic on your big day.
