One of the main questions I get from Spokane/Coeur d’ Alene brides is…do you know of any good officiants in the local area??? So I thought today I would do a post about the ones I’ve come across in my research. This is by no means a comprehensive list, so if you have someone to add be sure to let us know!
There are several options when it comes to who is allowed to officiate a wedding including:
- Justice of the Peace. You can call the Spokane county clerks office (where you get your marriage license) and ask for a list of local Justices of the Peace who are able to perform weddings.
- Court House. If you’d like to get married at the Spokane courthouse, you simply call and schedule an appointment and bring two witnesses. You can schedule your wedding as soon as three days after you get your marriage license.
- Religious Ceremonies. Obviously, if you belong to or attend a local church, you should be entitled to have the pastor or priest (or elder) conduct your marriage ceremony. Many will do weddings held outside their church building too. This should be your first call!
- Ordained friend or relative. If you’d like to take a more personal approach, then you might like having a friend or family member conduct your ceremony. Almost anyone can get ordained, and fairly quickly too.
If none of the above options work for you, here is a (rather hodgepodge) list of some Spokane officiants who will do non-denominational/civil ceremonies and who will travel. These are just ones I’ve come across in my research, I’m hoping you all might have some more to add too!
