3 Easy (and delicious!) Signature Cocktail Recipes

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere. And even though my computer is desperately trying to ruin my summer patio/cocktail dreams by reminding me it’s only 9:12am, I am finding it hard to focus on anything but these delicious signature drink recipes by Alisa Lewis Event Design.

Signature wedding cocktails are one of the top wedding trends of 2012 ( I hope you saw the post last week about why you should have a custom wedding cocktail for your big day!), so I was thrilled to see these three unique and simple cocktail ideas that have a distinct Northwest flavor.

Each of them can be made for a small or large group of people and would be perfect for your wedding, shower or rehearsal dinner…or just a casual night in with the girls!

Strawberry Watermelon Cooler

cocktails for weddings

We think signature cocktails are a great way to add another special detail to your wedding day and surprise your guests. This one is made from strawberries & watermelon and is very refreshing for a wedding on a hot summer day. It can be made in large batches with or without alcohol. We served ours in mason jars but it could easily be served from a large pitcher or beverage dispensers so guests can serve themselves. The thing we like about the mason jars is that it can be prepped a day before the wedding and then the last ingredients can be added, shaken up with the lid on, and served to guests with a decorative straw for garnish.”

Cucumber Gin & Tonic

cucumber gin and tonic recipe

A Gin & Tonic can be very refreshing for a summer wedding cocktail. You can add a flair of flavor by incorporating cucumber, mint, lime, etc. We chose cucumber and mint as our main flavors.

Ingredients for one drink:

  • 2 slices cucumber
  • 2 tsp shredded mint
  • 1.5-2 ounces Gin
  • 3/4 cup tonic water
  • 3-4 mini lime wedges
  • ice

Add ice and cucumbers to a short tumbler glass. Pour 1.5-2 ounces of gin over ice, add mint and 1-2 lime wedges. Top with tonic water.

To make in a large batch for a wedding, add 1 bottle of gin to a 2 gallon dispenser. Mix in cucumber slices, lime wedges, and mint to taste. Top it off with 6-8 cups of crushed ice. Fill to the top with tonic water. This would look lovely in a large drink dispenser or pitcher at a wedding beverage station.

Blueberry Basil Mojito

This mojito is a fresh and summery beverage as a signature cocktail for a wedding. The basil adds an unexpected but very delicious flavor. This drink could also be served in large batches or individually in high ball glasses or mason jars.

Ingredients per drink

  • 1.5 ounces of light rum
  • 2 TBS Fresh Blueberries
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 2-3 basil leaves
  • 1 TBS of simple syrup or agave nectar or sugar
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice
  • Lime & Basil to Garnish

Muddle (smash up) syrup or nectar, blueberries, basil, mint, and lime wedges in bottom of a tall glass or mason jar. Fill half way with ice. Pour over rum and swizzle the drink. Top it of with club soda and stir again. Serve with extra lime and basil and blueberries.

To make a large batch to serve around 24, muddle 6 cups of blueberries, with 6 sprigs of mint, 1 cup of basil leaves, 3-4 limes, 2 cups lime juice, 5-6 cups of light rum. Top it off with ice and 1.5-2 Liters of club soda.
