Before I hand it over to Melissa to introduce our River Dance Lodge shoot, I wanted to quickly award the Apple Brides Employee of the Year. Melissa is winning this prize for ALWAYS going the extra mile (or hundreds of miles in this case) for Apple Brides and our amazing clients. She planned and coordinated all the photo shoots this summer, driving up and down the many highways, byways and back roads of the Inland Northwest to highlight some of our areas best vendors, all so you can see them in action. She was so committed to this task that she even agreed to step in and play bride model for this shoot! Thank you Melissa. Me and the rest of the AB team (i.e. my two cats) are ever grateful!
River Dance Lodge Inspiration Shoot
By Melissa Persling
I have to admit, when I first contacted Brad at River Dance Lodge I had no idea where Syringa Idaho was. I should also tell you that I have been convinced on several occasions ,while driving in Spokane, that I had somehow crossed the Canadian border! It wasn’t until I began discussing the possibility of a bridal inspiration shoot that Brad finally asked me “Do you even know where we are?!” Turns out River Dance Lodge is a scenic four and a half hour drive from Spokane, WA nestled into a picturesque hillside along the Clearwater River in Central Idaho and they specialize in destination weddings. Did someone say road trip!?
But before I could put the fear of god into our poor intern Mandy (with my admittedly erratic driving) I had a ton of planning to do in an area I knew no one and nothing about. Enter Deaon Vincent.
After my fist conversation with the vivacious and experienced owner of Courtyard Weddings & Special Events (Lewiston, ID) I knew I had found the woman who would bring this shoot together!
Deaon enlisted the help of a great group of other Lewiston area vendors to create an eclectic and colorful styled shoot. Amy McCall Photography, The Cake Tarts, Posh Toppings, Stillings & Embry Florist and Printcraft Printing Inc rounded out the team along with Apple Brides multi-talented intern Mandy (a.k.a. one woman glam squad) and two gorgeous gowns from the much loved local bridal shop Storybook Bridal. This left me to step in as the “model”, a term I use extremely loosely when referring to myself. Basically I’m a girl pretending to be a big shot at Apple Brides, pretending to be a model who is pretending to be a bride. Whats my name again?!
I think its important for me to let you know that while River Dance Lodge offers four course dinners, homemade pies, a sizable wine list and other luxuries, this is truly the perfect wedding destination for an adventurous couple! From surf to turf there are a variety of of adventures to satiate your need for some excitement. Get your maids together for a sightseeing horseback ride or gather up the groomsmen for some rafting or fishing. Spend your days enjoying all that the outdoors have to offer while relaxing at night in your hot tub or the heated claw foot bath on the back porch or your “glamping” tent.
Which reminds me of the mantra we came up with during the shoot “Stay calm and glamp on”!
