We got a great response from the B-E-A-utiful River Dance Lodge inspiration shoot we posted last week, so I thought today I would post an interview with the owners.
River Dance Lodge is the perfect destination wedding location for brides in the Inland Northwest (or anywhere for that matter). The venue has taken on the reputation of being the “un-wedding” location in Idaho because of it’s unique set-up of outdoors adventure and total luxury. I mean where else can you go glamping, white water rafting and eat at a world-renown restaurant all in one day?! River Dance Lodge is for the couple who want something different and who want to treat their guests to a weekend of fun as well as a gorgeous wedding.
Here is the interview….

PWhat type of wedding does your venue work best for?
The Un-Wedding. A new concept for the adventurous wedding party. It’s for a bride and groom who want more from their wedding weekend than just aisle walking, “I dos” and dance floors. It’s time to think outside the box when planning your wedding. Instead of paying extra for fancy tablecloths and tuxedo wearing caterers…why not a guided rafting trip on the Mighty Lochsa before the big day? What about a wedding party horseback ride along the Clearwater River? Or maybe a gentle float trip to relax the nerves? What’s with the expensive and pretentious finger food anyway? Treat yourself and your guests to a home-style spread that will fill them up put a smile on their faces. Are you starting to get the picture?
Where else can you stay at National Geographic Traveler’s “150 Best Places to Stay in the World” and receive incredible guided adventures from one of National Geographic’s “Best Adventure Travel Companies on Earth”? We are the definition of unique. Our adventure resort is not for every wedding party, just the adventurous ones!
We can host up to 100 people at a reception. For overnight accommodations we have hand-crafted log cabin, 4 small cabins that sleep up to 6 people each and 4 large cabins that sleep up to 10 people each. We also have 3 luxury glamping tents that sleep 2 people each. In total we can overnight 70 guests.
Catering starts at $25 per person. We are happy to customize the meal plan to your tastes and budget. Some of our specialties are Alaskan wild caught salmon, prime rib and rosemary chicken kebabs. Our onsite Syringa Cafe seats 50 people inside and we can seat 100 outside. Our cafe has been featured in Idaho Cuisine and our adventure vacations have been featured in Food & Wine, Rachel Ray and Saveur magazines.
Do you have a ceremony location?
We have two ceremony locations that are used on the property.
What is your advice for couples planning their wedding?
Get a good photographer. Make it an adventure. Traditional is great and everything but before or after the big day, find something fun to do with your wedding party.
What is included in your packages?
Our packages are diverse. You can reserve the entire adventure resort without add-on like food, activities, etc…or you can create multi-day Un-Wedding packages that include whitewater rafting, kayaking, gentle float trips, hiking and horseback riding.
We do not rent just our ceremony location. There is nothing “Un-Wedding” about that! Our prices start at $4000 and that gets you two days and two nights rental of our entire adventure resort which accommodates up to 70 people. That’s just $57 per person! Of course, you can add activities, meals and more to create your custom Un-Wedding package.
