When it comes to creating the perfect cake for your wedding day, Celebrations Bakery knows their stuff! They are family owned business, and they use only the finest and freshest ingredients to create their tasty works of art! We interviewed the owner, Joe Stevens, to find out more about the business and what’s big for 2013.
How long have you been baking cakes/ cupcakes/ cake pops/ other treats?
In our bakery we have over 20 years of combined experience! We all have different skills that allows us to collaborate and create truly spectacular and unique cakes!
What made you decide to go into wedding cakes?
We love the creative aspect of designing a custom cake, and being involved in such a magical day for the couple.
Do you make other types of desserts? If so, what types?
Yes! We make all sorts of custom cakes, cake pops, cookies, and gourmet brownies!
What makes your cake recipes unique?
What sets our cake apart from others in the area is that we are all scratch baking, from our cake batter to our frosting! Everything is made here in the shop and it’s all fresh! You’ll never get a cake from the freezer at Celebrations!
What do you think is the secret to a good wedding cake?
First and foremost a wedding cake has to be delicious, but after that, we want the cake to be unique and to say something about the couple! We want to make a cake that is as unique to the couple as their love is! Whether its copying the pattern from their wedding invitation on to the buttercream, adding edible handmade figures of the couple as toppers, or just adding their monogram to an elegant and traditional piece; we feel that each cake should speak volumes about the special people that the cake is for!
How should brides choose their cake?
We love it when brides come in with magazine cut outs, color swatches, patterns, and of course, their Pinterest account! We always ask our brides to gather a few things to help us envision their special day a little bit better so that we can create a piece that is exactly what they want and exactly what works for their wedding and budget!
What are some of the wedding cake trends you’re seeing for 2013?
We are in love with all of the new trends this season! We are seeing lots of gorgeous designs like Rosette swirls and the elegant buttercream ruffles. The color fade also known as Ombre is very hot right now as well, and we love having the inside of the cake match the outside with layers of varying colored cake. The country chic theme is still really popular where incorporating everything from burlap, wheat stalks, and chalk boards on the cake is all the rage as well.
What is your favorite flavor?
I am a chocolate lover! Anything with chocolate and peanut butter is a winner in my book, so I would have to say the Peanut Butter Cup Cupcake is my absolute favorite!
