Today Sylvia is sharing 4 stylish and creative options for your wedding catering.
The food format that you decide upon sets the overall mood and feel of your wedding reception. This is the way the food is actually served. The way the food is served can either encourage more socializing, or less. It can create a fun party style atmosphere, or be more traditional and formal depending on your style. These days, there are many fun options, more than the traditional buffet.
Modern Cocktail Party
A current trend is the “Modern Cocktail Party” style reception, which offers guests upscale appetizers, that can be tray passed or set at stations- enough to replace a meal- while allowing your guests to socialize, walk around and mingle. Not only can this be a lot of fun for guests, it’s a great opportunity for people to meet and reconnect with each other without being formally seated and “stuck” in one spot.
Sit-down Plated Dinner
A sit-down, plated dinner is a more formal celebration. Guests are seated in one spot for longer periods of time, with less socializing time, but will feel well taken care of , with personalized table service like you would receive at a restaurant- a very luxurious treat for your guests. Keep in mind that the food costs are about the same between this type of meal and a buffet style meal, but the number of servers you will need will increase. The overall feel of the reception will feel more formal.
The New Buffet
A buffet style meal -the most common format- is both comfortable and familiar, allowing guests an opportunity to stretch their legs, get out of their chairs, and mingle a little bit. Many brides cringe when they think of the word “buffet”, but remember, these can be done in very modern, interesting and beautiful ways. In general, buffets create a more casual, comfortable feel for your guests, allowing them get up, move and interact.
A family style meal, is where platters of food are brought to the tables ( by servers) and guests serve themselves, passing the platters among themselves. This is fun, semi-casual and promotes interaction among table members. This is great option for outdoor weddings and is reminiscent of a dinner you would see in Tuscany or in the French country side. This is quickly becoming the new trend in receptions, especially if you considering a farm to table dinner.
Feast Catering Co. offers all these options- plated seated dinners, modern buffet style dinners, family-style dinners, Live action food stations, dessert bars and hosted cocktail/wine bars.
