The hardest part about DIY/handmade weddings is accomplishing a personal handmade look, while still looking professional and beautiful. And perhaps the absolute master of this fine line is Alisa from Alisa Lewis Event Design. Alisa always manages to make her events look incredibly intimate and personal, while still creating an absolutely breathtaking wedding day. Today’s post features one of the weddings Alisa designed last summer for a couple who had a destination wedding in Coeur d’Alene at the Blackwell Hotel captured by Mary Banducci.
Here’s a little from Alisa about this gorgeous event…
“We met with this midwestern bride & her family by chance one day in summer 2011 as we were stopping by the Blackwell Hotel. They were visiting Coeur d’Alene for the first time. We connected instantly and they hired our team that same weekend to help plan their destination wedding in Coeur d’Alene, ID. We set in place as many vendors and details as we could on their short weekend trip. The rest of the planning process took place via Skype, phone, and email correspondence.
In January 2012 the couple and family returned for an intense planning weekend in Coeur d’Alene. We met and hired all of their remaining wedding vendors and finalized their five course plated menu. We helped this family plan an intimate destination wedding for around 70 guests at the Blackwell Hotel. All of the guests travelled from all corners of the world to Coeur d’Alene for the first time. Many stayed at the Blackwell Hotel or nearby at local hotels and enjoyed all CdA has to offer in the summer!
The guests enjoyed a weekend of celebrations…the highlight being this intricately styled wedding by Alisa Lewis Event Design at the Blackwell Hotel. The ceremony took place in the round and moved to a lively cocktail hour in the side yard of the Blackwell featuring signature cocktails dreamt up by the bride and groom. The wedding then moved to the family style farm tables for a delicious plated meal by Angelo’s Ristorante. The farm tables were named after the rivers important to the couple and adorned with local flowers from Beehaven Flower Farm designed by Garden of Eden Florals. Once the meal was complete, one of our favorite local bands, 6 Foot Swing, kicked in to carry out the night complete with a swing dance lesson for all of the guests. The night ended with an abundant dessert display by Erin Blackburn and the surprise of The Scoop Ice Cream truck pulling up right into the backyard of the Blackwell Hotel. The entire night was captured by Mary Banducci Photography.”
