How long have you been doing hair?
Oh wow! Honestly, I’ve been doing hair for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always the hair stylist for all my friends. In 2009, after graduating from LCSC with my Business degree, I decided to finally follow my heart and go to school for Cosmetology. I have been licensed since 2011 and my salon, Studio CG Salon in downtown Coeur d’Alene celebrated it’s one year anniversary in February.
Why did you decide to get into weddings?
The biggest reason why I decided to specialize in weddings is because of the artistry; styling hair is my passion. One of my favorite parts of weddings is seeing all the pieces come together creating the perfect day for a bride, and one major piece of that is her hair. A bride’s hair needs to complement her dress, style, personality, etc. I pride myself in making sure my brides look their absolute best and are thrilled with the results.
What makes a great bridal hairstyle?
A great bridal style includes many components that can often times be over looked. I sit down with my brides and discuss what their dress looks like. The neckline and overall lines of are dress are a key factor in how a bride wears their hair. Also looking at their life and how they wear their hair daily. Another factor we talk about is how much fun they like to have on the dance floor. Seem silly? This is where most updo’s die, and if my bride is a dancing machine I want to know that ahead of time so I can make that style last until after the send off!
How should a bride determine what bridal hair look to go for?
Many of the factors I just mentioned also fall into this category. However, the other important aspects are if the bride is wearing a hair piece, hair extensions, a flower, headband, veil etc. If it is touching the hair they day of the wedding, we will discuss it and how to make it all work together for a cohesive, flawless look.
How should you prep you hair for your wedding day?
My bridal and bridal party hair prep is on a case by case basis. The day of the trial run we cover all those important questions and I send my bride home with special instructions as to how the should best be prepped for the big day.
Will you travel?
I do travel for a lot of my brides, though there is a travel fee that is included for those weddings, which is based on the distance travelled.
Will you do full bridal parties?
I am happy to do full bridal parties. For larger parties I like to bring an assistant to help speed things up, and alleviate stress on both parties; an assistant is $45 per hour.
What is your price range?
Bride $150 (consultation, trial run, day of)
Additional trial run $40 each
$75 each for bridesmaids/family
$45 (and under) for flower girls.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I also offer a $25/hour rate as a great option if you want me to stay for touch ups. The hourly rate begins once all the initial hair is complete and the bridal party takes off for pictures. It allows me to stay with the bridal party for pictures to be another set of eyes making sure that every hair is in its place! I stay until or through the ceremony until the reception, whichever you prefer.
