It’s no secret that planning a wedding for 150 of your closest friends and family gets expensive. It’s also no secret that we like to do our best to save our readers money! So if you’re knee deep in contracts and Google docs and find yourself scratching your head, wondering if that number on the Excel spreadsheet really is adding up correctly, keep reading. We’re here to share a few secrets, and give you some tips so you can save yourself $500 while planning, this week. Right now. Because who doesn’t like the thought of saving $500?!
Step 1- Skip the RSVP envelopes and opt for postcards. Using RSVP post cards instead of cards and envelopes can save you $$$ on postage! You might not think it makes a difference, but it adds up. Better yet, go digital and save even more! Requesting RSVPs on your wedding website can save you even more. Money saved- $20-$50
Step 2- Cut down on the paper products! Swapping escort cards for one, large seating chart at the entrance to your reception, skipping programs (guests will survive without them, we promise) and skipping individual menus for one per table, or even one large one on display can easily save you $250+ in design and printing costs. Money saved- $200-$250
Step 3- Reuse decor! Skip doubling up on decor and reuse ceremony pieces at the reception. You can also pop your bridesmaids bouquets into vases and use them as centerpieces at your reception, saving you even more money. Money saved- $150
Step 4- Let your guys shine without boutonnieres. Passing on bouts for pocket squares, or a simple adornment can save you big. If you love the look of them too much, opt for single stems for the groomsmen and get just your groom one! Money saved- $100
Step 5- Skip the champs! Listen, we’re BIG champagne fans at Apple Brides, but unless you truly love the bubbly, skip it. Most people don’t drink it at a wedding, and when toast time comes around, they’ll only have a sip, wasting the rest. Let your guests toast with whatever their drink of choice is, and save yourself the cash. Put it toward a nice bottle of bubbly on your honeymoon if you’re worried you’ll miss it! Money saved- $150
Just like that, you’ve easily saved yourself $500. Now have a drink, because you’ve earned it.
