Foundry Vineyards in Walla Walla is proof that winery weddings in Washington come in almost every style. This ultra chic space is a perfect mix of modern and rustic and is ideal for the creative couple who LOVE great wine. Here is an interview to learn more!
Tell us a little about Foundry Vineyards and how it came to be?
My family started a business called the Walla Walla Foundry in 1980. The focus of that business was to help individual artists produce there art works in bronze. The focus of this business has always been on contemporary art. When we decided to plant vineyards in the late 90’s we didn’t really know we would end up creating a winery with an art theme. In 2003 we produced our first bottle of estate Cabernet Sauvignon, just 500 cases. We have grown every year since then and now we have a full production facility, tasting room, gallery space and outdoor sculpture garden. We now produce 10 distinct wines, both red and white varietals and we continue to focus on sharing contemporary art with our community and those who come to visit the valley.
How did Foundry Vineyards end up hosting weddings? Was that the plan from the beginning?
We have only started to have larger events in our space in the last 4 years, before that were didn’t have the room.
What sets Foundry Vineyards apart from other winery wedding venues?
I think first of all, the setting. It is sophisticated, but also a bit rustic in the industrial sense. If you like modern spaces that also embrace reclaimed materials then you will most likely enjoy this space. We have a large indoor and outdoor area so if the weather is good we have the best of both worlds!
What type of bride does Foundry Vineyards appeal to?
I think we would appeal to anyone that is looking to do something non-traditional but wants to know that it will still be beautiful, memorable and unique.
Any advice for 2015 brides to be?
Think outside the box. If you choose to have your wedding or reception at Foundry Vineyards, we are confident that it will exceed your expectations.
