We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again– our absolute favorite part of working in the wedding industry is how each couple makes their big day unique to them. What reflects their personalities, what speaks to their guests, what is outside the box of I-have-to-do-this-because-tradition-says-so? Now, don’t get us wrong, we love wedding traditions. They’re nostalgic, fun and part of the whole shebang. That doesn’t mean that couples should follow them blindly just because, though. Weddings are about mixing the traditional with who you both are. The intersection of those meeting is where we like to live.
Case in point– the wedding gown. We love nothing more than seeing a bride in something that reflects who she is– whether that’s a ballgown or jeans. Now days there are so many outside the box options for brides that we can’t help falling in love every time we see something new! Blush, sequins, black tulle, plaid, oh my! We just can’t pick, so we’re highlighting a few of our favs to give you some inspiration right before the holiday weekend. Enjoy!

We love this short dress with pops of bright red– don’t be afraid of color on your big day! Neutrals aren’t for everyone.

This blush pink stunner makes our hearts beat fast. Maybe bright color isn’t for you, but neither is white. Consider blush pink, peachy hues, or a soft lavender for a sweet wash of color that will leave your partner blushing.

Burgundy, or any jewel tone, is a fabulous way to light up your wedding, or reception, and pick something really flattering. Jewel tones look good on every skin tone, and are so stunning to photograph.

Black! We know rocking the exact opposite of a traditional white dress may not be for everyone (although we LOVE the idea!), but in small amounts, it can be! This dress is a beautiful marriage of traditional and non-traditional. Many dress designers have beautiful ball gown collections that could hold your dream dress outside of the neutral spectrum.

Still not convinced such a departure from tradition is right for you? Consider adding an accent to your dress that reflects you. You can wear your dream snowy white gown and still be true to you by adding your new partners flannel shirt, your favorite jacket or a colored sash over your dress. Even if it’s just for the reception or photos, don’t forget to think outside the box when it comes to selecting your bridal outfit!
