We are complete fans of EVERY body being a “wedding body,” but we also love couples who are eagerly “sweating for the wedding” in order to be their most confident selves on their big day. We sat down with Health Coach CDA to learn more about what it’s like to switch your focus from endless unproductive hours at the gym to a habit forming life shift that produces long term results.
What exactly is a Health Coach?
A Health Coach is your personal Coach that guides you through the process of working toward a specific goal in reference to your health. These goals could range from weight loss or managing an illness (eg. Type II Diabetes) to dealing with stress or anxiety. During the coaching process, we provide supportive guidance and accountability and help implement subtle shifts in habit that culminate in a truly life-changing experience.
Why did you start Health Coaching?
My wife Ashley and I decided to start HealthCoachCDA last summer after we moved to the Coeur d’Alene area. I am currently certified as both a Health Coach and Life Coach, and I continue to obtain fitness certifications as well. Ashley has held certifications in the fitness world and is a Professional Educator by trade. She will be pursuing her Health Coaching certification later this year.
What type of person can benefit from a health coach? (i.e., someone who wants to lose weight, break bad habits, move up in their career. etc.)
Anyone seeking a legitimate change could benefit from a Health Coach. This could be change in any aspect of their health. Stress management, weight loss/gain, dealing with exhaustion or fatigue are all examples. Most people could fill in the blanks to this statement: I know that I should/need to _______ to ________. They just don’t always have the knowledge, guidance, and accountability to follow through.
Explain how you work with clients to help them meet their goals.
- In the beginning of the coaching process, clients are walked through the process of developing a clear vision of the outcome they want for their life and their health.
- Then, through our weekly sessions, they receive the necessary system, support, and accountability to achieve this outcome.
- They are empowered to make the appropriate changes and take actions that will lead to them reaching their goals. At the end of our 12 weeks, it is our intention that clients could leave our coaching programs and be able to continue the process without us.
What can a client expect when working with you?
Not surprisingly, most people think of Health Coaches as providing some kind of meal plans or specific dietary restrictions. These are actually the opposite of what we offer. We will go into some healthy eating options, but our focus is on creating shifts in habits that will lead them to their desired goal. We teach things like when and how to eat, drink, and sleep. How to recognize when you’re truly hungry and full. Or what you are really looking for when you go to the fridge at 10 pm (spoiler alert – you probably don’t actually need food!)
How do the sessions work?
Client’s sessions can be done in person or via satellite. Most clients chose the satellite option as it is the most convenient. These are completed via a weekly phone call or video chat and they are given a list of actionable steps to implement the following week. It also doesn’t matter where they live. I currently have clients in Florida, New York, California, Alabama and Germany. I just picked up my first local client here in North Idaho as well.
Do you have any special coaching packages for brides/ bridal parties/ grooms?
Yes! We are offering a special Big Day Transformation Package through Apple Brides this year. This will entail a 10% savings for an individual program, or 15% if you sign up for a partner package. There’s no limit on who the partner can be, eg. bride and groom, the bride and her mother or maid of honor. We can also build custom bridal party packages where we would come out and do a few sessions with the group.
How would a bride/groom/bridal party/ etc benefit from working with you?
The Bride and Groom would benefit from working with us by being given all of the necessary components to ensure they are the healthiest, happiest, sexiest possible version of themselves on their big day.
