A Wedding Planner’s Wedding By Zach Mathers

 January 9, 2014

Ever wonder what a wedding planner’s wedding would look like?! Well, you’re in luck! Because today we are featuring the lovely Alyssa from Spokane’s Belle Journée Events wedding day! This gorgeous lakeside wedding took place at Cavanaugh Bay Resort on Priest Lake and was shot by Zach Mathers Photography. Alyssa wanted her wedding day to be so well planned beforehand that she could relax on the day itself, and she was kind enough to tell us how she pulled it off! “People kept telling me that it must be so easy to plan your own wedding when that’s what you do for a living, and in some respects yes, but in others it really wasn’t. The easy things like picking out our vendors (who I totally love and would suggest to anyone!) was done super fast, but the little details took more time and thought. I didn’t want my wedding to look like everyone else’s, and when everyone gets their ideas from Pinterest that starts to happen rather quickly. For example, I really wanted a unique guest book, but I’d seen the puzzle piece picture or the thumb print tree way too many times already; so we opted for a calendar and the guests signed on their birth date! That way even the kids were included! Or our theme: VINTAGE the one theme everyone is in love with! But no burlap for us, all lace and mixed with warm fall colors to become totally unique! So how does a wedding planner plan her own wedding and not lose her mind? She plans it as if it’s 4 months earlier than it really is! Honestly, I would suggest this to any bride, it gives you that time close to the wedding to relax and not stress because things are done. Obviously there are always things that need to be done closer to D-Day but in general if you have everything finalized a few months in advance the chance of turning into Bridezilla are practically none! Of course there were a few last minute details but all in all the whole wedding was planned by June (the wedding wasn’t until October). And she hires professionals for everything! Just like any bride I had plenty of DIY projects but the big details were left for the pros. I’ll be honest it is nice knowing our vendors on a personal and professional level; so on the day-of I knew that they knew what they were doing and where they had to be.For me the best part was being able to enjoy by wedding as a bride and not as a coordinator.”
