So you’re engaged! Congratulations! There is no better feeling than sharing the news of your engagement with your closest friends and family.
One of the best parts about wedding planning is asking your best friends to be a part of your special day. You should take your time deciding who you want to include in your bridal party if you decide to have one. This group of people will likely need to get along if they are going to be spending time together doing wedding activities.
We’ve seen brides in the past ask their bridesmaids in a unique way or with some kind of surprise gift, but you can truly ask them whenever and however you’d like.
If you can hold out popping the big question to your gals, consider some ways you might ask them. We’ve put together a list of proposal ideas that you can use to pop the question to your soon-to-be bridesmaids.
Send Them Matching Robes
Plan out your matching robe photos and start by sending your bridal party matching robes with a note asking them to be a part of your party. Whether your get-ready theme is pink and fluffy, or classic white silk, your girls will love the comfy gesture almost as much as being in your wedding.
Throw A Boozy Brunch
If you are more of a quality time person, consider throwing a brunch get-together for your group and pop the question over mimosas and french toast! Hosting a brunch to ask them is also a great way to bring your party together and introduce those who may have never met. Your bridal party will be able to bond and get to know one another that way going forward.
Custom Cookies
You can get customized sugar cookies for any occasion, so why not ask your friends to be bridesmaids with them? Several local bakeries and independent bakers in the area create custom sugar cookies. Have them write “will you be my bridesmaid?” on one of the cookies along with other ones decorated with a wedding theme like a champagne bottle and bouquet of flowers. It’s a thoughtful gesture, that’s also delicious.
Tote Of Their Favorite Things
If you want to make the gesture more personal you can fill a tote bag with each of their favorite items, preferred treats, or go-to beverage. You can throw in wedding-related things as a hint toward the question you’re about to ask. Toss in a fun pair of sunglasses, a disposable camera, some lip balm, and maybe some of their favorite treats or accessories.
Custom T-Shirts
Use custom T-shirts that say ‘Bridesmaid’ and maybe the date of your wedding to ask your bridesmaids. They will love the idea of having matching shirts to wear during the bachelorette activities.
Bridesmaid Proposal Gift Box
Weav Spokane, a local curated gift box company, creates boxes full of locally sourced gift items that are perfect for you to pop the question with. The Bridesmaid box includes a Lavender candle, bath bomb, lip balm, body oil, and custom sugar cookie that says ‘will you be my bridesmaid?’. It literally comes with everything that you would want to gift your friends. Check out their website and inventory of gift boxes for bridesmaids, groomsmen, maid of honor, parents of the bride and groom, and more.
Frame It Up
If you are a sentimental person, go with a simple photo of you and your friend framed with the caption asking them to be your bridesmaid. Your friends or family will love and appreciate the special gesture. This is a great option if you’re on a tight budget but still want to gift them something nice.
Custom Champagne Labels
A great gift idea for wine and champagne-loving gals is a custom label that says ‘Will you be my bridesmaid? ’. You can include your wedding date and last name as well for a sentimental touch. They can either drink their bottle right away or save it for getting ready on the wedding day!
Again, do not feel pressured to do anything extra for your bridal party. Being a part of your big day is all that truly matters to them. If you do feel like asking them in a special way, consider any of the ideas mentioned above, or come up with your own way to ask! You certainly don’t have to splurge on this or do anything above and beyond since weddings aren’t cheap.
