Honeymoon Spotlight: Sonoma County, California

 October 11, 2017

Honeymoons are one of the most fun parts of wedding planning– after all, who doesn’t love booking spa visits and planning which cocktails you’ll be drinking?! If you’re a wine aficionado (or even if you aren’t!) you might have considered Sonoma County, California for your mini-moon or bachelorette weekend. If you’ve never considered Sonoma, it’s time to do just that. Right next to Napa Valley and outside San Francisco, the Sonoma area boasts being named the best US wine destination in 2012! Even if wine isn’t at the top of your list, Sonoma has plenty to do (more on that later!). If you’re considering a vacation in glam California wine country, the first thing on your mind is probably where to stay. To help jumpstart your planning, we’re sharing our favorite locations in Healdsburg, a quaint, sunny little town in northern Sonoma County that gives great access to wineries, awesome places to eat and has a really awesome spa. Up first is h2hotel. If sustainability and eco friendly practices meets modern and incredibly chic style sounds up your alley, look no further than h2hotel. From the free bike rentals to the trendy bar in the lobby to the Japanese soaking tubs in the rooms, h2hotel has true California style in the best way. Located right in the heart of Healdsburg, there’s no shortage of places to see and eat within walking distance from h2hotel. Not interested in leaving the hotel? That’s okay, the pool at h2hotel is a little piece of quiet paradise, tucked away.

Next is Camilla Inn. This bed and breakfast redefines charming. It’s boutique style lodging offers guests a true home away from home experience, and they always have amazing packages when you book to get even more out of your stay. Located a couple streets over from the main downtown area, Camilla Inn is the perfect place to stay no matter your occasion. Whether you opt for a room with a fireplace or whirlpool tub, they’re got the romance game figured out!

If you’re looking for something in town with more privacy, Honor Mansion will be right up your alley. Whether you stay in the main house or in one of their cottages, Honor Mansion’s hospitality will blow you away. With several cottages tucked behind the main house, you’ll barely noticed the hustle and bustle of other guests– although Healdsburg doesn’t really have a hustle and bustle, which is part of the appeal! You’re truly treated like royalty here, and who doesn’t want that?! From super private outdoor patio soaking tubs to little touches like hand crafted biscotti left at your door every morning, Honor Mansion is dreamy southern hospitality less than 2 hours from SFO.

Last but not least is Blue Rock Vineyards. While it’s not quite inside Healdsburg city limits, Blue Rock provides a truly immersive wine country experience. If you’re looking to surround yourself with the best of Sonoma, but not really spend the whole time driving from one place to the next, Blue Rock is your spot. The sprawling vineyards are bookended by olive trees, planted on the original estate in the 1880’s, and you’ll have the run of the place, because Blue Rock only has one guest house– the original cottage that was built on the land. Don’t let the date deter you though, this place is a luxurious honeymoon dream. Just imagine watching the sun set over the rolling hills, learning to make fresh olive oil and tasting wine– just the two of you! Blue Rock is all about accessible luxury and a private, unique experience.
