This is simply a guideline, and everybody’s planning journey is different, so don’t worry if you’ve done things a little out of order. 1 year prior to wedding: -Have a date in mind, and secure your venue. This is #1! Venues book up super quickly, so a year in advance may seem crazy, but trust us, especially if you’re getting married in the high season (summer time) it’s not too soon! -Next, interview and hire a wedding planner. They’ll be able to majorly assist you in the rest of your planning journey, so don’t skip them!

9 months prior to wedding: -Next up, your photographer, especially if you have a favorite. Photographers book up crazy fast, so make sure you get an amazing one that you click with by booking them as soon as you have your date set. -The same goes for a videographer, which we’re big proponents of! -If your venue doesn’t also do catering, now is a good time to start tasting meals and selecting a caterer. -While it isn’t a venue, you should also start dress shopping now, especially if you plan on ordering custom!-Create your invitations and save the dates. Save the dates should be mailed out about 6 months before, invitations should be mailed out about 2 months before your wedding. -Especially if you’re getting married during high season, now is the time to secure any rental items you’ll need at your venue.

6 months prior to wedding: -Start checking out florists! They’ll be able to tell you what’s in season when you’re getting married and help with decor. –Find a great DJ, who will also serve as an MC for your wedding. Hire someone who’s personality you love, as they’ll be a huge reflection of your big day! -If you’re not getting married at a church, hire an officiant to marry you. -Time to taste some cake, one of the best perks of wedding planning! -Seek out your glam squad, professional hair and makeup is important!

3 months prior to wedding: -Secure your transportation, if needed, whether thats shuttle bus or limo! -If you’re having any extra vendors, like a photo booth or entertainment, don’t forget to rent the extra fun stuff for your guests!

1 month prior to wedding: -Confirm all vendors and adjust numbers or details accordingly, if needed. Your planner should do this if you hired one, like we suggest!
