Outdoor Summer Wedding Must-Haves

 March 9, 2020

Now that it’s March, prime wedding season is quickly approaching. And in the Inland Northwest, there are plenty of incredible outdoor venues where you can say “I do.” However, before you walk down that outdoor aisle, there are a few things you need to consider! Here are three of our outdoor summer wedding must-haves.

A place for guests to cool down
Summers in the Northwest can be hot, so it’s absolutely essential you provide a spot to cool down! Try to find a venue with an indoor space (bonus if it has air conditioning!) If necessary, rent a tent to provide some shade. Make sure there’s plenty of water available throughout the ceremony and reception!

A way to combat the bugs
It’s no secret that we have lots of little visitors during the warmer months in our area. There are a variety of ways to protect your guests from summer-time pests. Ranging from citronella candles, to bug-repellant lamps, and even just having some good old-fashioned bug spray on hand. Check with your venue to see what the have on hand and what they allow. Your guests will appreciate being armed with something to keep the bugs away.

A back-up plan
We cannot stress this enough. The number one thing you can have for your summer outdoor wedding is a backup plan! Again, check with your venue to learn about their contingency plans. Oftentimes, they’ll have an indoor space they can convert to a ceremony/reception spot, but it usually takes a little bit of magic. Make sure to communicate what you would like in case of a weather emergency so that your venue can be prepared. (P.S. it’s situations like these when a wedding planner really comes in handy!)

We love a summer wedding as much as the next bride, but it always pays to be prepared!
