If you are a recently engaged bride or groom just diving into planning your wedding for next year, first of all CONGRATULATIONS! Despite everything going on right now, this is such a special time if your life. Now, planning a wedding during this time is definitely not "business as usual." So, while you take some time to enjoy your engagement and plan your wedding for 2021, keep these 4 things in mind.
Book vendors quickly
Between 2020 brides rescheduling and 2021 brides preparing ahead, vendors are booking FAST. Make sure you reach out to your most wanted vendors ASAP to get them booked. Then, you can continue booking other vendors accordingly. Understand that because of this overload of weddings, your top vendors may be booked so be ready with 2 or 3 backups just in case!
Hire a planner
We have been advocates for hiring a wedding planner since the beginning of time. That being said, there is no better time to have a planner than during today's climate! With so many unknowns, a planner will be by your side to navigate and help you make the best decisions. They will be the first to know and understand any possible restrictions and how they apply to your event. A planner will work to coordinate and communicate with all of your different vendors, ensuring a flawless event, no matter what obstacles you encounter!
Have a plan B (just in case!)
Not super fun to talk about we know. But when everything is so up in the air, having a plan B will make you feel confident that you can say your "I do's" no matter what happens. (This is where having a planner becomes invaluable!) In this day and age, think: what if we have to limit our guest list? What if there are restrictions on events? Are you willing to elope or would you rather reschedule? Asking yourself these important questions now will help you avoid a lot of hurt down the road.
Consider a smaller guest count
We have no idea what restrictions will be in place this time next year. And believe us, we're not saying you should cut out people who are important to you! However, if you have a lot of friends that are on the cusp, you may want to consider leaving them off the guest list. This will not only ease any worries about potential guest number restrictions, but it will also save you a little bit of money!
Don't let anxiety overpower your excitement
Yes, there are a TON of "what ifs" right now. However, you are getting freaking married! And one way or another that is something to celebrate! You have found the one human on this earth whose soul compliments yours and you're ready to commit. Hallelujah! Don't let yourself get bogged down with anxiety over what could and could not happen. We have no way of predicting the future and there's no telling what the world will look like in 2021. So get excited and plan the day of your dreams!
