Planning Tips

When it comes to your wedding registry, you probably have a lot of questions. Where do I start? What should I add? Well, have no fear, Apple Brides has your back. We're breaking down the most important do's and don'ts of creating your wedding registry today!

DO

Register for items in a wide price range. Your guests appreciate having a lot of items to choose from! Close family members may want to splurge on a big gift or you many modern registries have the ability for a group to contribute to large items. And while it may seem silly to include small items like a spatula, it can be really fun to put together a big gift basket with multiple items for starting your new life together!

DON'T

Be afraid to include a LOT of items. As mentioned above, some guests like to give multiple gifts, so it's important to include more gifts than guests you invited. As people start to purchase, stay on top of your registry, adding items as needed to keep it full.

DO

Get out of the "registry comfort zone." Think beyond pots and pans, towels, and throw pillows. Think about what you love to do together. Your wedding registry is a great place to start building up your game stash. Enrich your outdoor lives by adding camping gear, badminton, or a patio set.

DON'T

Register at just one place. Some guests are more comfortable with some stores over others. Many people prefer to shop in-store while others want to buy online and ship a gift directly to your doorstep! Giving them options will make it easy for everyone to buy you something meaningful.

DO

Register for experiences. Modern registries are so much more exciting than just bed linens! We've seen couples register for honeymoons, donations to their favorite charities, or even home renovations. Especially since so many modern couples are living together prior to marriage, you often have everything you need already!

DON'T

Register for seasonal items. You usually start your registry months ahead of your registry. So those adorable fall-themed plaid pillows you added? They'll be long gone by the time your big day rolls around! Stick with timeless items that will always be available.

DO

On that note, do check your registry often! Some items may be discontinued or run out of stock. It's important for you to stay up to date so that the items you need most are available to be gifted to you!

DON'T

Skimp on writing thank you notes! There are few times in your life where you will receive gifts in droves like you will on your wedding day. There is no excuse to not write thank you notes less than 3 months after your wedding. Just be sure when you're opening to keep track of who gifted what to make it easy!
