In a world where the average sample wedding dress is size 8-12 and many bridal shops don’t even stock larger gowns, it can be difficult to be a plus size bride…to say the least. Not to mention, bridal sizing is notoriously skewed, meaning, realistically, many of us may actually fit into ‘plus size’ gowns without realizing or expecting it! When dress shopping, it’s best to not worry about size, and focus on fit. However, it can be difficult to find a good dress selection in larger sizes locally, so we compiled a list of what you can expect to find in store, no matter where in the Inland Northwest you’re shopping! In our research, we found there is some discrepancy on what exactly qualifies as “plus size.” Some shops said size 14 and up, some said 16 and up and a couple said 18 and up. It’s also important to note some of the numbers of sample dresses below were approximate guesses by the shop assistants, but it will hopefully give you a roundabout idea of what their selection is like.
