Here’s What to Include in Your Wedding Website!

 February 23, 2024

A wedding website is an incredibly useful tool for sharing information with your guests and collecting information from them. It can also allow for adding in some fun elements! We’ll cover all the must-include details, and then a few fun surprises.

The Basics:

It’s all in the details! Make sure to include the basic information on the date, time, and address of your wedding. This allows your guests to refer back at any time. When you have more information, you can even include a rough schedule of how the day will go. Another important detail is the dress code, such as cocktail or black tie, to give your guests an idea of how to dress. If the venue will be on grass, outdoors, or have other unique factors, this could be important to share so your guests can select the appropriate shoes and attire.

Travel Information

This section provides any extra details to aid guests traveling to your wedding. It can be particularly important if you are hosting a destination wedding! You can include information about parking, directions if the venue is difficult to find, or tips for a shuttle or public transportation if applicable. Are you booking a hotel block? That information goes here!

Integrated RSVP and Registry from ZOLA

One of the most useful features most wedding websites include is an RSVP list, which can digitally collect RSVPs for you. Be sure to include an RSVP deadline. Some wedding websites can be set up to remind guests to RSVP if they have not already! These features take some of the hassle out of tracking down responses and finalizing your guest count.

Let your guests know what would be useful to gift you! You can connect the items on your wish list directly to your website. Some websites also allow you to set up a fund, which can be put towards things like large registry items or your honeymoon!

The Extras:

Once you’ve covered the logistics, you can use your wedding website to share and exchange other information!

Share Your Story

Not everyone attending may be familiar with the story of how you met. Share a bit of your story and photos from your time together, but remember to keep it short and sweet. You can even make this a short video!

Introduce Your Wedding Party

In addition to sharing information about you, some couples use their website to quickly introduce their wedding party and share how they first met.

Website pages created with Joy

Share some things your guests can do while they are in town for the weekend! To personalize this further, mention locations that are special to you as a couple.

Ask Your Guests to Share

Some websites allow your guests to submit information, whether during the RSVP process or separately. This can be a great way to collect song requests, diet restrictions, photos they have of you two, or trivia questions that you’d like to use during your reception.

Media Guidelines

Do you want to have an unplugged ceremony? State that ahead of time! Do you want your guests to take and share photographs? Check if your wedding website allows them to submit photos taken at the wedding here. Alternatively, you can share a unique wedding hashtag that guests can use, allowing you to easily view photos from after your wedding.

Private Pages

Some wedding websites will allow you to restrict access to certain pages. This can allow you to share need-to-know information with certain groups, like your wedding party or family.

Many website platforms can create matching stationary, like this invitation from ZOLA!

When it comes to wedding websites, there are a lot of options, most of which are free and come with easy-to-customize templates! Some popular choices are The Knot, Joy, and Zola, but even regular website builders like Squarespace and Wix have some templates specific to weddings. Each platform has slightly different offerings, so do a bit of exploring and choose the one with features that meet your needs!
